Sanju Samson has been in superb form in this IPL for the Rajasthan Royals. He has scored 159 runs from the first two games for the Royals. He has been consistently compared to MS Dhoni after the form he has shown for the Royals.
However, Samson has played down this comparison saying that no one can play like the former Indian skipper. Time and again, every budding wicket-keepers in India have drawn comparisons with the Dhoni. Sanju also urged one and all not to compare Dhoni with anyone as he is one in a generation cricketer.
“It is not at all easy to play like MS Dhoni, and I think one should not try to play like him, that’s what I will suggest to anyone. We should leave him aside, he is one of the best cricketers to have played the game,” Samson said to India Today.
Don’t Ever Think Playing Like MS Dhoni – Sanju Samson
The cricketer from Kerala further said that he does not even think of playing like the former Indian skipper. Samson made his debut for India in 2015, but then lost out his place to Dhoni till he was playing international cricket and then to Rishabh Pant.
He has been a consistent performer in the IPL for a long period of time, however, the selectors have been avoiding him despite his numbers.
“I never think about me playing like MS Dhoni and what I would really love to be is more like myself and just understand what is Sanju Samson and just be myself whenever I play a game” Samson further added.
Meanwhile, former Indian batsman, Gautam Gambhir has been vocal about the inclusion of Sanju Samson in the Indian team. He has been vocal about Samson for a long time and Gambhir only strengthened his voice.
“It’s weird that the only playing eleven Sanju Samson doesn’t find a place is that of India, rest almost everyone is ready for him with open arms” Gambhir had tweeted.
