Oman’s Fast Bowler Bilal Khan Achieves The Milestone Of Being The Quickest Pacer To Reach 100 ODI Wickets

The fastest bowler to take 100 wickets in One Day International cricket according to records is Bilal Khan of Oman team. Najibullah Zadran’s leg in this ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 match was bilal’s 100th ODI wicket.

Pakistan-born cricketer with the record time of 49 innings beats Shaheen Shah Afridi’s record who did this in 51. He now becomes the overall third fastest after Sandeep Lamichhane from Nepal and Rashid Khan from Afghanistan (both spinners). Those were 42 innings for Lamichhane and 44 for Rashid respectively.

Oman clinches a tense victory against Namibia with Bilal Khan setting a new record

The bowling stats of Bilal Khan – 10-1-50-3 – were so disciplined that it made sure Oman would not allow Namibia go past 196/9 in 50 overs. In addition to that old-timer, Fayyaz Butt picked up two wickets and Kaleemullah Jay Odedra and Shoaib Khan had just one each.

Oman’s captain Aqib Ilyas supported their batting in the second innings when he scored 68 runs from 129 balls including five fours and a six; Khalid Kail and Ilyas had a partnership of 64 runs for which the latter scored 43 before he was run out. As for Shoaib Khan, he finished not out on 26 as he led his team to victory.

To chase down the score, Oman required 49.1 overs, winning the match by four wickets. For his innings of 68 runs, Ilyas was named Player of the Match. This was also Oman’s first win after they had lost to Namibia and Scotland before seeing a Scotland match with no results.

In the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 table, Canada ranks first with four victories from four matches while Namibia stands second with four wins out of seven games.

This year Oman and Namibia played in the T20 World Cup and were in the same group but finished at the group stages. Nevertheless, their clash during that mega event turned into a super-over spectacle won by Namibia.
