In the current match between Pakistan and Canada at Nassau County International Stadium, Pakistan won the toss and chose to field. Shaheen Afridi started the bowling but conceded two fours in his first over, prompting captain Babar Azam to pull him out early.
Azam then entrusted Mohammad Amir with the ball, bringing him in for the third over. Mohammad Amir, after conceding a four on his first ball, redeemed himself by taking a wicket on the last ball of his initial over, justifying the captain’s trust.
Utilizing his skill to swing the ball both ways, Amir bowled an in-swinger to trap Canadian opener Navneet Dhaliwal. After five deliveries that moved away, Amir delivered a perfect in-swinger, sending Navneet’s middle stump cartwheeling.

Hafeez reveals surprising details about Amir and Imad Wasim’s retirement reversal, alleging PCB made deals with them
Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez accused the Pakistan Cricket Board of making deals with Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim for the T20 World Cup. Hafeez criticized the Pakistani players after their 6-run loss to India in the T20 WC match in New York on Sunday.
This defeat marked another loss for Pakistan against India in ICC events, with India now leading the head-to-head 7-1. Pakistan’s batting performance was disappointing as they failed to chase a moderate target of 120, ending at 113/5 in 20 overs, thanks to a strong comeback by Indian bowlers led by Jasprit Bumrah.
Hafeez, the former Pakistan coach, strongly criticized the PCB for selecting players like Amir and Imad, who recently reversed their retirements to play in the T20 World Cup.
“They (PCB) brought them here out of greed, made deals with such players (Amir and Wasim) who have ruined Pakistan’s cricket. I was in the domestic circuit, but no one wanted to play domestic cricket.”
”It is because they were telling me that ‘any of us gets selected, we will take it.’ How can it be that players who don’t even play Pakistan’s domestic cricket got selected,” Hafeez said.
