At least one person lost their life and several others were injured after an explosion struck during a cricket match in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, officials confirmed on Saturday. The incident occurred at Kausar Cricket Ground in Khar tehsil, Bajaur District.
Authorities stated that the blast was triggered by an improvised explosive device (IED), suggesting it was a deliberate attack. Among the injured were children and police personnel, who were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

How did the explosion occur?
Bajaur District Police Officer Waqas Rafique confirmed that the deadly attack was carried out using a powerful improvised explosive device (IED). The sudden blast triggered widespread panic and chaos among players, spectators, and nearby residents as thick plumes of smoke rose from the site of the explosion.
Among the injured were a police constable and a local civilian, Najeeb Khan, who, along with several others, were immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital in Khar for urgent medical treatment.
