In the ‘Jang’ newspaper, there was an article stating that a few Pakistani players agreed to appear for as little as USD 2500 a person to attend a meet-and-greet event in Dallas during the 2024 T20 World Cup.

It was further said that financial discrepancies between captain Babar Azam and other players led to the cancellation of another event, “A Night with Stars.” In the aftermath of the league-stage departure, which came after defeats to tournament newcomers USA and bitter rivals India, all these disclosures will be examined.

Since December 2022, the board has had four chairmen; nonetheless, none of the senior management personnel have been replaced or demoted.

“It is now becoming clear that if the players are today an indisciplined and careless lot, the blame for this falls on some of the senior management officials who have been patronizing them in many ways,, including in the finalization of the central contracts last year,” the source added.

“PCB to lose senior management level officials”- Reports

The rumor that Babar Azam and pacer leader Shaheen Shah Afridi are at odds over the captaincy and that the team is a divided house adds to the drama.

The chaotic Pakistani cricket board is expected to undergo significant changes as a result of the players’ poor performance in the T20 World Cup in the USA. The players have come under fire for attending promotional events with their families and for accepting payment to appear at these events.

According to a trustworthy source within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is furious with the actions of a few senior officials and blames them for the team’s lack of discipline, which prevented them from making it past the league stage.

“You can expect the PCB to lose senior management level officials and also enforce some strict policies for the players in future,” the source said.

PCB set to ban players from taking families on tour:

A code of conduct for players—who are facing backlash for bringing their families and making paid appearances at promotional events during the tournament—is expected to be developed as a result of Pakistan’s disastrous T20 World Cup campaign in the USA.

He noted that, as part of the PCB’s cleanup effort, a policy decision prohibiting players from bringing their families to the ICC and other important tournaments is also anticipated to be made soon.

“The fact that so many players not only took their wives and children to the World Cup but even had their parents, brothers, etc. staying in the team hotel has left the chairman unhappy,” the source said.
