A Pakistani YouTuber named Saad Ahmed was tragically shot dead by a security guard while filming a vlog about the T20 World Cup 2024 match between India and Pakistan. This incident took place on Sunday in a mobile market in Karachi, according to media reports. The YouTuber was interviewing the security guard for his vlog, which was part of his coverage leading up to the match at Nassau County Stadium in New York.
Saad Ahmed had visited the mobile market to gather video interviews with various shopkeepers. He then approached the security guard, aiming to include his perspective in the vlog. However, the guard did not want to be filmed and repeatedly asked Saad to stop. Despite the guard’s reluctance, Saad continued to press for an interview. The situation escalated, and the guard, becoming increasingly frustrated, eventually shot Saad.

According to ARY News, Saad was immediately taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. A friend of Saad’s revealed that he was the primary earner for his family. This friend had spoken to Saad before he went to cover the pre-match activities, highlighting the personal loss to his family and community. CCTV footage from the area indicates that the YouTuber was talking with the security guard before being shot. The police have reportedly arrested the guard in connection with the incident.
“He kept on bringing the mic close to my face and filming. I lost my temper and fired at him,” the guard was quoted as saying in the Instagram post.
