Parthiv Patel Pushes For Yash Dayal In India’s 2nd Test Against Bangladesh

Yash Dayal has made a significant impact in domestic cricket, having taken 76 wickets in 24 first-class matches for Uttar Pradesh. The 26-year-old has also claimed 32 wickets in 20 List-A games, along with 28 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) across the same number of matches. Former cricketer Parthiv Patel shared his thoughts on Dayal’s potential, expressing optimism about the young left-arm seamer.

In a conversation with ANI (via The Times of India), Patel stated that India has been lacking a left-arm pace option for some time. He believes Dayal could be a valuable addition to the national team if given the opportunity, adding that there is no harm in trying out the bowler who possesses considerable promise.

Parthiv said: “This will be a great chance to see a left-armer. It has been a while since India had a left-arm seamer, so I feel if he gets the chance, it will be good. We will know. Yash Dayal has tremendous potential. So I don’t think there is harm in trying.”

Patel also discussed wicketkeeper-batters Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel, suggesting that their return to the Indian side may be delayed due to the re-entry of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul. Pant, who recently scored a century after being sidelined for 19 months due to injuries sustained in a car accident, has reclaimed his spot.

Patel acknowledged the talent of Sarfaraz and Jurel, both of whom impressed in their debut Test series against England, with Sarfaraz scoring 200 runs, including three half-centuries, and Jurel amassing 190 runs with a top score of 90. However, Patel emphasized that they will need to wait for their next opportunity to play in the Test team.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul is under pressure to perform in the upcoming home Test series against New Zealand. In the opening Test against Bangladesh, Rahul managed only 16 runs off 52 balls in the first innings and a quick 22 off 19 balls in the second, raising questions about his consistency as he competes to retain his place in the squad.
