Australia’s pace spearhead Pat Cummins had a magnificent year in 2019 leading the wicket’s chart across the globe. Cummins led the bowling unit helping the Aussies retain the Ashes urn for the first time since 2001. Despite being successful across the format, the pacer revealed the toughest batsman he has ever bowled.

The quickie has finished the year with 59 wickets in the longest format of the game, while the second-placed Nathan Lyon is fourteen wickets behind him. Furthermore, Pat Cummins is also the leading wicket-taker across all formats in 2019 as he finished the year with 99 wickets. Out of these 99, 59 came in Tests, 31 in ODIs and 9 in T20Is while India’s Mohammed Shami finished second.

Meanwhile, Cummins also had some difficulties against some batsmen. Recently, in a chat, the New South Wales cricketer picked India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara as the toughest batsman he has bowled against. Praising the Indian cricketer, Pat Cummins said he is a complete rock with the bat.

“There are a lot of them out there, unfortunately. But I am going to go with someone different and he is (Cheteshwar) Pujara from India. He was a real pain in the back for us. He was an absolute rock for them in that series. Really hard to get out. Just ultra concentration all day, day after the day. He is the hardest one in Test cricket so far I think,” Pat Cummins said while taking a fan’s question.

Notably, Cheteshwar Pujara played a significant role in helping India win their first-ever Test series in Australia in 2018-19. He ended the series with 521 runs in 7 innings, with the best score of 193 and also faced over 1000 balls during the series to frustrate the Australian bowlers in their backyard.
