“People Talking About My Form Is Quite Funny”- David Warner Not Concerned About The Criticism Of His Batting

Australian team started their T20 World Cup campaign against South Africa on October 23. They were chasing a low total in the second innings and it was the perfect opportunity for star opener- David Warner to get some runs under his belt, early on in the tournament.

But the southpaw found it hard to get going once again as he lost his wicket to Kagiso Rabada after scoring 14 runs off 15 deliveries. Previously, Warner had scored just 1 run in the two practice matches combined.

However, Warner who turned 35 on Wednesday said that he is not taking the current criticism seriously because there is no reason for someone to comment that he is out of form. He said that he hasn’t played a lot of cricket in the recent past and hence hasn’t been able to get into the groove so far in the mega event.

“I actually think people talking about my form is quite funny. I laugh at the matter because at the end of the day I’ve played hardly any cricket and then in the IPL I had two games and then they basically wanted to give all the other youngsters a crack,” said Warner.

David Warner said that mentally he is in a great frame and is confident of performing well as the tournament progresses.

“I feel like I’m in a good space, I’m hitting the ball well in the nets, I couldn’t be any more ready to go. The other day I felt like I was one boundary away from having a good innings,” he added.

Warner revealed that now he’s practicing on synthetic wickets so that he can get his timing and feet movement back, according to the pitches being offered in the T20 World Cup. “At the moment I’m training on synthetic wickets, some polished concrete to get timing and rhythm and moving my feet, so that’s helping me.”, said Warner.

Before this T20 World Cup, the destructive opening pair of Warner and Finch had last played a T20 international together in September 2020. “It almost seems like we were in retirement and we’ve come back, the time that we’ve had off,” Warner said laughingly.
