The dynamic middle-order batsman has gone on to cement his berth in the limited-overs side following his comeback post India's ouster from the ICC World Cup 2019 losing to New Zealand in the semifinal. However, his ultimate dream remains is to represent his country in red-ball cricket, revealed the cricketer.
After struggling for almost two years including the ICC World Cup 2019, the selection panel drafted the talismanic run-scorer in the squad. Shreyas Iyer has been belting tons of runs in the domestic circuit for consecutive years. The Mumbaikar stood tall to the expectation and repaid their faith with strong numbers in the blue colours.
While Iyer has sealed the limited-overs berth, playing Test cricket for India looks like a far-fetched dream. Chatting with Cricbuzz, Iyer said that he has polished his skill by playing red-ball cricket before revealing it is his long-cherished dream to play the traditional format.

“I’ve grown up playing red-ball cricket. Once that is imbibed in you as a cricketer, it is never going to go away. No cricketer, who has spent a good amount of time playing red-ball cricket will ever quit aspiring to play Test cricket,” Iyer said.
Furthermore, Shreyas Iyer added that it is a dream for every cricketer to don the whites. Notably, he boasts a strong CV in red-ball cricket with an average of over 50. Meanwhile, it would be interesting to see whether the new selection panel-led by Sunil Joshi considers him for Test cricket.
“It’s a different feeling. It may sound like a cliche, but playing Test cricket is a dream and I hope it comes true soon. Don’t think it’s just me who thinks that way. Anybody who aspires to play the game at the highest level will always aspire to play Test cricket. Then it’s all about how capable you are,” Iyer concluded.
