What an opening encounter we just witnessed between two great sides the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Chennai Super Kings have finally undone the winning streak of 5 matches, Mumbai Indians were on since 2018.
It has happened yet again as history has repeated as Chennai have beaten Mumbai Indians in the opening encounter once again. The last time this happened was in 2018 when Kedar Jadhav finished the match off in style for the Chennai Super Kings in the final over of the game.
I was eager to score runs for CSK: Ambati Rayudu
Mumbai batting first put up a total of 162 runs wherein all the Mumbai batsmen other than Saurabh Tiwary failed to capitalise. The CSK bowlers were able to restrict the Mumbai batsmen to a decent total as they chased down the target in the final over of the game.

Ambati Rayudu; the man of the match scored 71 runs off 48 deliveries batting at 4 as Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians in the opening encounter of the 2020 IPL. Rayudu mentioned during the presentation ceremony how his training during the lockdown helped him prepare for the 2020 IPL.
He also mentioned how the dew coming into play actually made batting easier for the Chennai batsmen. Since they had practised in the extreme heat of Chennai before flying to Dubai, It helped the team immensely as the temperature is on similar grounds in both cities.
“I kept training in the lockdown. It was a stop-start but I was really eager. When the dew came on batting became much easier. We practised in Chennai which really helped and then in Dubai as well,” Rayudu said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
After a sparkling start to this year’s IPL, it will be Delhi Capitals who take on Kings XI Punjab tomorrow at the Dubai International cricket stadium in the second match of the cash-rich league.
