On the professional front, Prithvi Shaw is presently in the process of recovering from a knee injury he sustained while representing Northamptonshire in the One Day Cup last month.
Medical examinations revealed that Shaw suffered a Grade 2 PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament) injury, for which surgery was not required. However, his participation in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy remains uncertain.
During his tenure with Northamptonshire, Shaw exhibited exceptional form, amassing 429 runs in just four matches.
The 23-year-old’s remarkable performance included a stunning 244-run innings against Somerset, which marked the sixth-highest individual score in List-A cricket history. Additionally, he recorded an unbeaten 125 runs against Durham.
Despite significant interest from other counties, Northamptonshire has confirmed that Shaw will return to their team. In a statement, he expressed:Β
“I am so excited to be heading back to Northamptonshire next summer. Even though it was over quickly, I really enjoyed my time there. It’s a great club to be a part of, and I felt so welcome by everyone immediately. I cannot wait to get back over.β
Key details on Rishabh Pant’s recovery
Rishabh Pant is currently recuperating from a serious car accident he survived on December 30th last year. He has now started practicing both batting and wicketkeeping in the practice sessions.
As per the BCCI:
βHe is currently following a fitness programme designed for him, which includes strength, flexibility, and running.β
However, he won’t be able to participate in the prestigious ICC event, the 2023 ODI World Cup, set to take place in India from October 5 to November 19.
It’s expected that the 25-year-old will regain fitness before England’s 2024 tour of India, which will kick off with the opening Test at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad from January 25-29.
