Prithvi Shaw has been touted as the next big thing in Indian cricket. However, his return to the international circuit has been marred by irresponsible and reckless batting as Shaw has thrown his wicket after getting good starts. The right-handed batsman came under the scanner for his immatured batting when he got out cheaply in the second innings playing a no-needed shot.
India had a devastating outing in the first innings bowled for only 165 runs with Ajinkya Rahane the only batsman to show some grit scoring 46 runs. Shaw failed to give India a good start playing an erratic shot which hurt the entire batting unit. Meanwhile, New Zealand showed that it is not a difficult track to bat as he took a crucial lead of 183 runs in the first innings with skipper Kane Williamson doing the bulk of runs for his side.

Virat Kohli & Co needed a good start in the second innings to make a comeback in the match. But Prithvi Shaw once again showed irresponsibility playing flashy shots against the new ball and eventually throwing his wicket putting India in deep trouble. Shaw’s and his batting technique has been exposed a bit here in Wellington after he got out to an inswinger.
The cricketer from Mumbai tried staying on the leg-side on the line of the ball but the ball angled in and he was taken aback. In the end, Prithvi Shaw jabbed one uppishly and the man behind square on the on-side took it. Soon after his departure, fans came down hard on him for his reckless batting. Many even said that Shaw is not Virender Sehwag and needs to check on his batting while many questioned his place in the playing XI ahead of KL Rahul.
Meanwhile, India recovered well courtesy Mayank Agarwal, who played a fine knock of 50 before Trent Boult dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara at the stroke of tea to have the visitors at 78 for two, still trailing by 105 runs.

It looks Prithvi Shaw is a flat track bully. He needs to grind in domestic cricket to know d price of selection for India. Meanwhile what happens to Priyank Panchal last year’s highest run getter.? He & Mayank ver vying opener slot cud nt get even one chance, does he nt deserve?

Overseas conditions, Prithvi Shaw certainly cannot be a choice of opener as of now. Too many exploitable areas in his batting. #indvsnz

don’t you think in any team openers should be experienced. In absence of Rohit Instead of Prithvi Shaw we would have played KL Rahul as an opener. @StarSportsIndia #askstarsports

is Prithvi shaw being preferred as a test opener over Shubman Gill justified in context of the runs Gill has scored over the last month or two? @StarSportsIndia #AskStar

Can someone please remind Prithvi Shaw that he is no Virender Sehwag! There was and will only be one Sehwag. Prodigy it seems! Wondering what more Gill, who warmed up with tons, should do. Strange selections #INDvsNZTestCricket

V poor execution by Prithvi Shaw. Looks like he is playing T20 match! Is it the stroke to play when India is 180 runs behind?
