Trevor Bayliss, the head coach of the Punjab Kings, is reportedly about to leave the team. The two-year contract of the former Australian cricket player has ended, and a renewal seems unlikely. The team is currently seeking to name an Indian head coach, which represents a calculated change in coaching philosophy.

The 18th Indian Premier League (IPL) is quickly approaching, and Punjab Kings are keen to select an Indian head coach in light of the achievements of Indian players Rahul Dravid, Ashish Nehra, Gautam Gambhir, and Chandrakant Pandit.

His recent T20 cricket performance is another cause for concern. His inability to live up to expectations with Sunrisers Hyderabad, Sydney Thunder, and most recently Punjab Kings contributed to their desire to split ways.

The franchise was supposed to hold a board meeting to discuss plans on July 22, but it was canceled. Sanjay Bangar, who serves as their Director of Cricket Development at the moment, appears to have been mentioned as the potential replacement for head coach.

Trevor Bayliss worked with three different IPL teams during his career:

According to Cricbuzz, Trevor Bayliss‘s two-year deal with Punjab came to an end after the 2024 Indian Premier League concluded, and the administration hasn’t tried to extend it since. They are considering all of their possibilities in addition to Bangar, particularly in light of a potential big auction.

The authorities of PBKS claim that they are still to make the last decision regarding Trevor Bayliss and this man has had three different assignments with three different franchisee sides which include KKR, SRH, and PBKS apart from having a highly successful career with the England team.

He has had a pathetic five-year T20 record in all formats irrespective of having played for Sunrisers, Sydney Thunder, or Punjab Kings. The ownership group argued that it is still up until now that no decision has been made yet.
