Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings are the most successful franchise among all the teams. They have won the title three times; one short of Mumbai Indians but have reached the playoffs on all the seasons they have participated.
The Super Kings led by the legendary MS Dhoni has managed to keep the core team in all editions which have been the backbone of their consistent run in the cash-rich league. While other franchises ran behind youngsters and big names, Chennai went to the auctions with plan picking effective players for all spots.

While many identified MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings core group as the main reason behind their success, former India captain Rahul Dravid came up with a surprising answer. He identified the franchise owners – India Cements as the main reason behind Chennai’s success. Dravid pointed out that the owners have managed many other teams which have helped them to scout exciting talents.
When they got into the IPL, Chennai probably had an advantage over a lot of other franchises because their owners, India Cements, were already in the business of running cricket teams,” Dravid was as quoted in a book written by Tim Wigmore and Freddie Wilde.

“CSK was just the most high-profile team that they ran. So in a sense, they’ve always had people on the ground and their scouting system was probably better right at the start than any other team,” he further added.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings, who lost the last year’s final to Mumbai Indians will be desperate to win the trophy this time around if the tournament takes place. BCCI has postponed the competition until April 15 in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
