Mumbai pacer Dhawal Kulkarni is likely to announce his retirement from the game after Mumbai’s last league match against Assam of the ongoing 2023-24 Ranji Trophy season. The match kicks off on Friday, February 16 at the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) Ground in BKC.
Dhawal Kulkarni has only played three matches for Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, picking up seven wickets. According to the Times of India (TOI) report, the veteran cricketer will be calling it a day on his cricketing career after Mumbai’s final league match against Assam. A reliable source in the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) informed the TOI.

Dhawal Kulkarni made his first-class debut in the India A vs Australia A match at Bengaluru in 2008. He has played 95 first-class matches, taking 281 wickets at an average of 27.21, including 15 five-wicket hauls. He has also scored 1793 runs, including eight fifties in first-class cricket. Dhawal has been a part of four Ranji Trophy title triumphs in 2008-09, 2009-10, 2012-13 & 2015-16. Meanwhile, he has also picked 223 wickets in List A matches.
The veteran pacer was rewarded with an India cap in 2014 against England at Birmingham in an ODI match. He has represented India in 12 ODI matches and 2 T20Is, taking 21 wickets. He played his last International match in 2016 against New Zealand at Ranchi.
Mumbai qualifies for Ranji Trophy 2023-24 knockouts
Mumbai have qualified for the knockouts of the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy season. Their last match against Chhattisgarh ended in a draw, handing them three points. Currently, the Ajinkya Rahane-led team is at the top of the table in Elite Group B with 30 points from six matches. They have four wins, one loss and a draw match, where they have taken the first innings lead.
Bhupen Lalwani has been their consistent performer in the batting line-up scoring a century and five fifties. Meanwhile, Mohit Avasthi is having a breakthrough season picking up 28 wickets in five matches.
