Karun Nair smashed a century for Vidarbha against Maharashtra on the 2nd day of the 6th round match played at MCA Stadium, Pune on 10th February 2024. Vidarbha began the 2nd day in a strong position at 111 for 1. He came to the crease scoreboard reading 151. Nair looked impressive showing class 74 runs for the 4th wicket with Mohit Kale.
It was a superb batting effort by a seasoned batter keeping pressure on Maharashtra bowlers. He along with Akshay Wadekar added 149 runs for the 5th wicket. Nair completed his milestone of 160 deliveries. Nair remained not out on 128 runs off 205 deliveries with 12 boundaries that helped Vidarbha end the 2nd day in a strong position at 439 runs for 6.
Vidarbha led Maharashtra with 231 runs and hoping for a bigger lead with Karun Nair at the crease. Vidarbha is currently in a dominating position bowling out Maharashtra for 208 runs in the first innings. Aditya Sarwate was the pick of bowlers with 3 for 43, while Yash Thakur and Lalit Yadav grabbed 2 wickets and Aditya Thakare and Harsh Dubey took 1 wicket each.
Karun Nair scored his 2nd successive century in this year’s Ranji Trophy. He scored well and made 112 against Rajasthan during the last match at Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur. The match ended in a draw, but Rajasthan earned 3 points due to first innings lead.

Karun Nair moved to Vidarbha from Karanakta. He was dropped from Karnataka’s squad for the 2022-23 season. Nair received a No objection certificate from Karnataka State Association resulting in the veteran batter joining Vidarbha for this season.
Karun Nair had a great season in the 2021-22 season for Karnataka getting limited chances. He played just 3 matches with 291 runs including 1 century and 1 half-century at an average of 72.75. Karnataka progressed into the quarterfinals that season.
Nair has performed brilliantly in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season for Vidarbha. He made a total of 375 runs from 6 matches (9 innings) including 2 centuries with the best score of 128 so far. He would look to continue to build on his century and help Vidarbha register an outright victory.
