Biratnagar Kings experienced a heartbreaking defeat in the Nepal Premier League, which cost them the first place in the tournament, marked by a winning streak of three games. The duel against the Chitwan Rhinos took place at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur during a night game.

The Kings, who batted second, could not reach the 175-run target and suffered a huge loss in the process. The team was dismissed for a meager 126 runs in 16.5 overs, thus incurring a defeat of 48 runs at the hands of the Chitwan Rhinos.

The failure was accompanied by some positive individual performances. Merchant de Lange led the batting with a score of 39 runs, which was his resistance against the rival’s bowling attack. Pratish GC was also a significant contributor to the team’s total with his solid 30 runs.

The loss represents a major hurdle for the Kings after their recent successful stint in the tournament. The players are determined to achieve victory in their forthcoming games and thus bounce back and regain the winning momentum.

Chitwan Rhinos posted 174 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs

The remarkable winning streak of the Biratnagar Kings in the Nepal Premier League 2025, which consisted of three matches, got an unexpected ending with a loss to Chitwan Rhinos by 48 runs. The match at TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur saw the guest team performing very well, and the newcomer Ranjit Kumar was the one to shine the most.

The young player Ranjit Kumar’s brilliant bowling assisted him in taking the center of the match. Indisputably the best bowler, the debutant captured an amazing five wickets, further destroying the already fragile Batting order of Biratnagar. He was declared the Player of the Match for his great performance and helped Chitwan secure two vital points.

Chitwan Rhinos’ batters not only did a good job but also laid a strong base for their win. After being compelled to bat first, the Rhinos made 174 for the loss of 5 wickets at the end of their innings. Bopara was the main batsman through whom runs came, as he scored an impressive 65 off 50 balls, while Zaib and Khanal played supporting roles, scoring 32 and 28 respectively. Captain Malla was also there at the end with 20 not out.

Although the Biratnagar bowlers tried their best, they failed to stop the Chitwan batsmen from scoring. Captain Lamichhane and Merchant de Lange each claimed two wickets, while Shubham Ranjane took one. But all these efforts were not enough, as Biratnagar could not reach the target set by Chitwan.
