Indian side couldn”t continue their World Cup campaign as they succumbed to an 18-run defeat to the kiwis. The entire fan base along with players and support staff are dejected. The players, as well as the Head Coach, Ravi Shastri shared their emotions together with the fans.
Through several posts across social media platforms, they are taking some time to thank the fans who stood by them throughout the tournament. For the first time, coach Ravi Shastri has something to say for the fans.
In his latest interview to the Indian Express, Ravi Shastri revealed how the dressing room environment reacted post-loss. He also shared the little speech he gave to the Indian side after the disappointing loss. “Walk out with your heads held high. Be proud. Those 30 minutes can’t erase the fact that you guys have been the best team in the last couple of years. You guys know it. One tournament, one series and that, too, 30 minutes of play can’t decide that. You guys have earned that respect. Of course, we are all hurt and disappointed but, in the end, be proud of what you have done for the last two years”, said Ravi Shastri.
It is to be noted that the Indian side dominated all formats of the game at home in the last 2-3 years. Though there were series losses in tests at South Africa and England, the side performed much better than previous outings. Shastri said that the side has performed exceedingly well in last 30 months but this loss though disappointing, shouldn”t be taken to heart.

“When you have played good and tough cricket for the last 30 months, this loss in the semi-final would hurt. It’s a tough pill to swallow and we are all gutted, but this is a sport. That’s why we play it,” Shastri added.
Shastri and skipper Virat Kohli will be giving an explanation to the BCCI after their arrival to India on the World Cup performance and the setbacks that hindered their progress. The side will now have a break for a couple of weeks before departing to the Caribbean lands for the all-format tour.
