Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has predicted a new IPL winner after Tuesday night’s encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. Virat Kohli’s men managed to win the game by just one run as Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 58 went in vain. This win took RCB back to the top of the table whereas Delhi are placed third on the points table.
Meanwhile, RCB, DC and Punjab Kings are the only three sides not to have won the IPL title. Mumbai Indians have won it five times, CSK thrice, KKR twice, and SRH and RR once each.
India head coach Ravi Shastri, who has been keeping a keen eye on this year’s proceedings and has been very regular on Twitter, posted a tweet to hint that the tournament could see a new champion by the end of IPL 2021.
He wrote: “Brilliant game last night. Seeds being sowed for a potentially new winner to emerge.”

The RCB team has looked a different outfit this year. Along with the batting powerhouse that the team always was, it has added some good depth to their bowling attack. Harshal Patel, Kyle Jamieson, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Siraj are consistently doing the job for the side with the ball. With the bat, Virat Kohli has AB De Villiers and Glenn Maxwell to fall back on.
Delhi Capitals, on the other end, have Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan firing for them with the bat. Pant himself and the lower order of Stoinis, Hetmyer and others are chipping in as well. With the ball, Kagiso Rabada, Avesh Khan, Amit Mishra have been their trump card. Axar Patel has also joined the side and has brought about his contribution as well.
All the teams barring CSK and SRH have played six games each in the tournament so far. While RCB are topping the points table with 10 points, Hyderabad are languishing at the bottom with just two.
