Delhi Capitals overseas pacers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje are on their way to join their IPL franchise for IPL 2021. Both of them played in the first two ODIs against Pakistan. South Africa won the second ODI to level the three-match series at 1-1 despite Fakhar Zaman’s valiant 193. The South African duo took more than 50 wickets together as Delhi reached the IPL finals for the first time last year.

“Now Boarding: The only #MondayMotivation you need. @AnrichNortje02 and @KagisoRabada25 are ON THEIR WAY to #IPL2021 #YehHaiNayiDilli,” Delhi Capitals tweeted.

On Saturday, Delhi Capitals’ assistant coach Mohammad Kaif, who attended his first practice session with the team at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai, expressed that the franchise is aiming for nothing short of winning the title.

“We want to go one step further this year and that’s the Delhi Capitals’ team goal. We have the players to win the title. We were very close last year and the plus point for this season is that most of the players such as Rishabh Pant have been playing a lot of cricket” said Kaif in a DC press release.

The franchise has a new captain in the form of Rishabh Pant after Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of the tournament with a shoulder dislocation. Iyer will undergo surgery on April 8.

According to a report by Sportskeeda, it has been learned that Iyer will be compensated after picking up the shoulder injury while representing Team India in the international arena. The report stated that Iyer is entitled to be compensated according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Player Insurance policy.

The Delhi Capitals named Rishabh Pant as the captain of the Ricky Ponting-coached side for the IPL 2021. The management had options like Ravichandran Ashwin, Shikhar Dhawan, Steve Smith and Rahane to choose from but the management appointed young Pant for the hefty captaincy role.

Delhi Capitals face Chennai Super Kings in their campaign opener in Mumbai on April 10.
