Shreyas Iyer will receive his entire IPL salary despite missing the complete upcoming season. Sportskeeda has reported that the Delhi Capitals full-time skipper will be given the entire payment even though he will be missing the action. Iyer who dislocated his left shoulder in the ODI series against England will undergo a surgery on April 8. Rishabh Pant has been elected as the skipper of the side for the upcoming season in Iyer’s absence.

According to a report by Sportskeeda, it has been learned that Iyer will be compensated after picking up the shoulder injury while representing Team India in the international arena. The report stated that Iyer is entitled to be compensated according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Player Insurance policy.

Iyer’s absence will be hugely felt by the Delhi Capitals management. He was a key figure in their middle order. He is likely to be replaced by Ajinkya Rahane at number four. Delhi reached the finals under the Mumbai lad last year. In 2019, Delhi finished third as well.

Iyer injured himself while trying to stop a booming cover drive from England opener Jonny Bairstow when the Indian cricketer partially dislocated his shoulder. With Iyer ruled out of the upcoming season following his injury, the Delhi Capitals named Rishabh Pant as the captain of the Ricky Ponting-coached side for the IPL 2021. The management had options like Ravichandran Ashwin, Shikhar Dhawan, Steve Smith and Rahane to choose from but the management appointed young Pant for the hefty captaincy role.

Delhi Capitals face Chennai Super Kings in their campaign opener in Mumbai on April 10.
