Ravichandran Ashwin has put Team India on top removing the dangerous looking Marnus Labuschagne with a beauty of a delivery. The visitors are currently in the driver’s seat in the ongoing Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Jasprit Bumrah and Umesh Yadav started well in the second innings as India look to bowl out the Aussies for a cheap total to level terms in the series. Bumrah was on the money from the first delivery hitting Matthew Wade’s pads before bowling a toe-crushing yorker to Joe Burns. The Aussie opener got away thanks to the umpire’s call.
However, Burns poor form with the bat continues as the peach of a delivery from Umesh Yadav ended his stay in the middle. Joe Burns reviewed the decision but the HotSpot showed a mark and it was a simple catch for Rishabh Pant. Just when Umesh started to look in rhythm he suffered a niggle in his calf.

After Burns’ dismissal, Australia looked in control of the scheme of things with Marnus Labuschagne dictating terms. He came on his front foot and played a few good cover drives and showed signs of playing a big knock. Just when the Aussies were looking for a big partnership, Ravichandran Ashwin stepped up to provide the breakthrough.

The veteran off-spinner played with the mind of the batsman. Ravichandran Ashwin slowed it down in the previous deliveries and then pushed this through quicker on a middle-and-off line. Marnus Labuschagne was caught on the crease and played down the wrong line. It took a thick edge on the way and it was a regulation take for Ajinkya Rahane at first slip.
Former Australia spinner Shane Warne, who is present at the commentary box, heaped high praise on Ravichandran Ashwin as Labuschagne walk back after scoring 28 runs from 49 deliveries.
