Star Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) cricketer Harshal Patel has left the Indian Premier League (IPL) bio-bubble in Pune following the death of a family member. Harshal exited the bubble after getting to know about the tragedy in the family right after the game against Mumbai Indians on Saturday.

The 31-year-old cricketer was busy with RCB’s game against Mumbai Indians when his sister passed away. He left the bubble immediately from Pune to be with his family during these difficult times.

“Unfortunately, Harshal had to leave the bio-bubble due to a death in his family. It was his sister. He did not take the team bus back to Mumbai from Pune,” PTI reported quoting an IPL source.

The star cricketer is expected to join the bubble before RCB’s next game against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday.

“He will be rejoining the bubble before the next game against CSK on April 12,” the source added.

Harshal Patel, who was the Purple Cap winner last season, has had a terrific start to IPL 2022.  He returned with 2/23 in the game against Mumbai.

RCB drown Mumbai Indians in the clash of titans

Royal Challengers Bangalore produced another complete effort to rout five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.

Riding on a good show from the bowlers, RCB restricted Mumbai to 151 runs. Rohit Sharma and Co. were reduced to 79/6 but Suryakumar Yadav powered Mumbai to a challenging total with an unbeaten half-century.

In reply, Anuj Rawat got RCB off to a flying start before Virat Kohli took over the mantle. Rawat and Kohli shared an 80-run stand for the second wicket to set up the run chase before Glenn Maxwell won it with two boundaries.

With this victory, Royal Challengers Bangalore now have six points from four games. They are currently third in the IPL 2022 points table after Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans.
