Mumbai Indians (MI) have got off to the worst-starts possible, losing all three games so far in IPL 2022. In the wake of their latest defeat, skipper Rohit Sharma delivered a passionate speech in the dressing room, urging for some desperation from the cricketers.

Meanwhile, Rohit was seemingly disappointed after the defeat. The 33-year-old cricketer delivered a motivational speech. He urged the players to showcase the ‘desperation’ and play their best cricket.

In a video shared by the Mumbai franchise, Rohit Sharma said:

“We seriously cannot be blaming individuals here. It’s all of us. We win together, we lose together. That is as simple as that for me. I think slight desperation is required from each one of us. That desperation is very, very, very important when we play, especially in this tournament.”

He added:

“Because oppositions are different, they come up with different plans all the time. We just need to stay ahead of them. We just need to stay on top of them. And the only way we can do that is by having that slight hunger and that desperation on the field – with the bat, with the ball.”

Pat Cummins’ show derails Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians

Defending 161 runs, Mumbai were in control of the proceedings till the 12th over. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on the other hand, were struggling at 101/5 with all recognised batters back in the hut.

He launched a carnage in the next three overs to take KKR home. The 28-year-old Aussie cricketer accumulated 14 runs off that over from Tymal Mills before scoring another 12 from Jasprit Bumrah‘s next over.

The 28-year-old cricketer from Australia cut loose in the next over, smashing 35 runs off Daniel Sams to clinch the tie. In the process, Pat Cummins scored the joint-fastest half-century in the history of IPL of 14 balls. KL Rahul is the other cricketer to register a fifty in 14 deliveries when he achieved the feat against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2018.
