With the match slipping away, Karthik’s three boundaries helped Bengaluru inch closer to the target. As the match approached its conclusion, Bengaluru needed only 15 runs with Ahmad bowling the penultimate over. Karthik and his partner managed to score 10 runs from the over, bringing the required runs down to a mere 5 in the final over.
In the last over, with just 5 runs needed for victory, Rashid Khan took the ball for Gujarat Titans. Despite an LBW appeal and a review, Karthik remained at the crease, determined to finish the match. With a single off Karthik’s bat, the tension mounted. Finally, a six from Karthik’s bat sealed Bengaluru’s victory by 4 wickets, much to the delight of the home crowd at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
