All-rounder Shreyanka Patil powered the India A team to a comfortable win against Hong Kong on Tuesday, June 13 at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok in the ACC Womens Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023. The India A team defeated Hong Kong by nine wickets to kick off their campaign in the tournament. 

Bowling first, India A bowled Hong Kong out for a paltry 34 runs. Shreyanka Patil rattled the Hong Kong batters with her bowling brilliance. She took five wickets, conceding just two runs in three overs. Mariko Hill was the leading run-scorer in the innings, with 14 runs. Meanwhile, Parshavi Chopra and Mannat Kashyap picked up two wickets each.

In response, India chased down the target in around six overs. Uma Chetry and Gongadi Trisha stayed unbeaten on 16 and 19 runs respectively. Shreyanka Patil won the Player of the Match award for her match-winning bowling performance. The fans took to social media to hail the youngster for her performance.

Following her performance against Hong Kong, Shreyanka Patil expressed that she is grateful to wear the India jersey. She added that as a child, she used to dream of playing for the country, and was enjoying her debut at the Emerging Teams Asia Cup. Shreyanka Patil said to Asian Cricket Council,

“I am very grateful to be wearing this jersey. Since I was a kid, I was dreaming to wear this jersey and I won’t stop dreaming, I’ll continue dreaming, but the thing is that it’s just in the beginning and thoroughly enjoyed this fifer because it means a lot to me. On a debut getting five wickets is just an amazing feeling.”

India A will take on Nepal A in their second match of the ACC Womens Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023. The match will take place on Thursday, June 15 at the Mission Road Ground, Mong Kok.
