The Indian squad defeated England handily in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final, setting up their customary best fielder award presentation. Following India’s 68-run victory against England in the semi-finals, Dinesh Karthik gave Rishabh Pant the best fielder award.

Several of the game’s greatest players have graced this World Cup edition with their attendance and medal presentations to Indian participants. The Indian players gave Karthik a hearty applause when he walked inside the team’s dressing room. When Karthik spoke to T Dilip, India’s fielding coach, he made a joke that had everyone chuckling.

Karthik made a joke about how players like Vivian Richards were presenting trophies to the players at the ceremony. He went on to say that Dilip had “downgraded” the award ceremony by contacting him and that perhaps the next time, aliens or UFOs might show up to present the players with their awards.

They appeared to be having a lot of fun together in the Indian dressing room. Karthik recommended Rishabh Pant, who was nominated along with Kuldeep Yadav, for the best fielding medal in recognition of his outstanding keeping during the match.

“Rohit Sharma obviously led the team very well”- Dinesh Karthik

India defeated England by 68 runs in the semi-final, and Dinesh Karthik praised Rohit Sharma for being a great captain. In addition, he sent his condolences to Rahul Dravid, who will be coaching India for the last time during this game.

“Just a couple of mentions, Rohit Sharma obviously led the team very well and also, uh, to travel by, You know, in a couple of days, it could be your last game for the moment, as the coach, and you had a great journey. You’re leaving the team in a better place as well, for the rest to take over, and most importantly, now to give away the award,” Dinesh Karthik said.

“As I said, there are many stories in the sport and there are not many better than the person I’m going to be giving it to what he’s gone through a year ago. I don’t think six months ago we expected him to be in this team. Not many would have expected him to play the sport this early, but for him to come out here, and play the way he’s done. Start at the IPL and do what he’s done, I think we are all very happy for him. But I think he’s made millions happy. But just being on the field. Thank you. Thank you. Good luck,” Dinesh Karthik added.

India raced into the tournament’s final, where they will meet South Africa on June 29.
