Rohit, Kohli, And Bumrah May Skip The England ODI Series – Reports
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma, star batter Virat Kohli, and ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah are reportedly set to miss the upcoming ODI series against England, scheduled to begin on February 6 ahead of the Champions Trophy.

At present, Rohit Sharma is captaining the Indian Test team in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia. However, the skipper is going through a difficult phase with the bat, struggling to find consistency and form.

Similarly, Virat Kohli is experiencing a slump in his performance, having recorded three single-digit scores in his last five innings. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah, who has been in excellent form with the ball, has claimed 29 wickets in the series so far.

Bumrah is also serving as the vice-captain under Rohit Sharma’s leadership. According to a Sports Tak report, Jasprit Bumrah will be rested to manage his workload ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are expected to take a break, with uncertainty surrounding their participation in the upcoming tournament. The final squad will be decided by the selection committee.

The 2025 Champions Trophy is set to start on February 19

The upcoming Champions Trophy is set to begin on February 19, featuring eight teams divided into two groups. Group A includes India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, while Group B comprises Australia, England, Afghanistan, and South Africa.

India will play all their matches at a neutral venue, with the Dubai International Cricket Stadium serving as the host. The two-time Champions Trophy winners will face Bangladesh in their opener on February 20, followed by a clash with Pakistan on February 23.

Their final group-stage match will be against New Zealand on March 2. If India advances to the knockouts, their games will also take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The semi-finals are scheduled for March 4 and 5, with the final set for March 9.
