The Rohit Sharma injury story has become a nation-wide debate in the last few weeks. Yesterday in the pre-match talk of India and Australia first ODI, Virat Kohli had also admitted that there was no transparency regarding his injury. Kohli appended that Rohit was expected to travel to Australia to continue his rehab.
Soon after these comments of the Indian captain, BCCI late last night released a statement concerning the injury of Rohit. The BCCI asserted that Rohit will be undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA on December 11 which will decide whether he will be available during the Test series in Australia. Also, the cricket board pointed out that Rohit had not travelled to Australia with the side due to his father’s health.
Due His Father’s Health Rohit Sharma Decided Not To Go To Australia
Surprisingly this is the first official statement published by BCCI circling the injury status of Rohit. The BCCI became pro-active only after Kohli had taken an indirect dig at the board when he insisted that he had on information on why Rohit Sharma wasn’t travelling with the team to Australia.
“He is presently undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA. Mr Rohit Sharma’s next assessment will be conducted on December 11th following which the BCCI will have clarity on his participation in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
Mr Rohit Sharma had to come back to Mumbai after the IPL to attend his ailing father. His father is now recuperating well and that has allowed him to travel to the NCA and start his rehabilitation,” BCCI said in a statement released on Thursday.
Now according to a report of Mumbai Mirror, Rohit Sharma will be travelling to Australia for the upcoming Test series. The report stated that Rohit because of personal reasons decided not to travel with the Indian side after the conclusion of IPL.
“Everyone was part of a conference call and things have been clarified. Rohit will go to Australia and his travel plans are being made,” a BCCI office-bearer told Mumbai Mirror and went on to explain that it was due to his father’s health that Rohit did not directly go to Australia. “His father had Covid and he is also a heart patient. Not everyone was aware of the problem. These are personal issues,” the office-bearer said as quoted by Mumbai Mirror.
