The first Test is scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 19. Rohit landed in Chennai on Thursday, September 12, for the preparatory camp leading up to the India vs Bangladesh Test series. Team India’s squad for the first Test against Bangladesh includes: Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (wk), Dhruv Jurel (wk), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, and Yash Dayal.
Rohit was last seen playing for Team India during the ODI series against Sri Lanka, where India lost 2-0. Despite the defeat, the 37-year-old was India’s top run-scorer in the series. Earlier in the year, Rohit also led India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup before retiring from the T20 format and passing the captaincy to Suryakumar Yadav.
Rohit is now set to play in the Test series against Bangladesh, marking his return to the longest format of the game. This series will be India’s second home assignment in the World Test Championship. Earlier this year, India defeated England 4-1 in a five-match Test series as part of the championship.
The two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh will take place at two venues. The first Test will be held from September 19 to 23 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, and the second will be played from September 27 to October 1 at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
