Team India opener Rohit Sharma will be a vital cog in the wheel during the upcoming tour of Australia. There has been a lot of speculation over Rohit’s technique in challenging conditions. But former Aussie cricketer Mike Hussey believes Rohit Sharma has the ability and temperament to succeed down under.
Virat Kohli & his boys will tour Australia for a four-match Test series starting from December 3 in Brisbane. After India’s series win in 2018-19, fans will be keen to see them repeating the feat.
Rohit can excel in Australia – Hussey
During the series, all eyes will be on Rohit Sharma. The Mumbai batsman has done exceedingly well since his promotion to the top order. He has scored three centuries including a double hundred against South Africa. As Rohit looks to taste success in overseas condition, he has the backing of Mike Hussey.
“It’s going to test any batsman in the world, but I think because he’s (Rohit) played a lot of One-Day cricket batting at the top of the order, and now he’s been having some success with the red ball game as well, that’ll give him confidence coming in,” Hussey said.
“I have no doubt in my mind that he’s got the ability and the skill and the temperament, to be able to handle it,” he added.
Furthermore, Mike Hussey reckoned that adaptability will be key for Rohit Sharma in Australia. If he gets going, the hosts will find it hard to contain a batsman of Rohit’s calibre.
The former cricketer also added that return of David Warner and Steve Smith will make things difficult for India. Incidentally, Warner and Smith missed the last series due to a ban for their involvement in the ball-tampering scandal. Both of them are looking forward to the series keenly and make their presence felt.
