Rohit Sharma Reunites With Two 2011 World Cup Champions Before Asia Cup 2025

India’s ODI skipper Rohit Sharma recently caught up with his former teammates Zaheer Khan and Yuvraj Singh, both key members of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning squad. The three shared cheerful moments together, posing for a picture. Rohit sported an all-black outfit, Yuvraj wore a printed T-shirt with shorts, while Zaheer chose a classic shirt-and-pants look.

With no ODI fixtures scheduled until October, Rohit has been making the most of his break from cricket after the IPL 2025 season. The 38-year-old recently announced his retirement from Test cricket and had earlier stepped away from T20Is after leading India to the 2024 T20 World Cup title.

The Mumbai star remains active in ODIs, having captained India to victory in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year, where they defeated New Zealand by four wickets in the final. He also led the side to the 2023 World Cup final, where they finished as runners-up to Australia.

Posting the picture with Rohit and Yuvraj on Instagram, Zaheer Khan captioned:

“Buggi night with Shana log.”

Yuvraj Singh And Zaheer Khan Instrumental In India’s 2011 World Cup Win

Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan were pivotal to India’s historic 2011 World Cup triumph, which ended the nation’s 28-year wait for the coveted 50-over ICC trophy. Yuvraj was named Player of the Tournament for his stellar all-round display, scoring 362 runs in eight innings at an impressive average of 90.50, including one century and four fifties.

With the ball, the left-arm spinner claimed 15 wickets in nine matches at an economy rate of 5.02. Zaheer Khan, meanwhile, finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament alongside Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi. The experienced left-arm pacer bagged 21 wickets in nine games, maintaining a superb economy rate of 4.83.

Interestingly, Rohit Sharma was not part of India’s 2011 World Cup squad, as then-captain MS Dhoni opted for spinner Piyush Chawla instead. Rohit will now be determined to add an ODI World Cup title to his resume in 2027.
