After a huge loss to the Island nation in the 1st ODI at the Dharamsala, Rohit must have had a lot of things running in his mind over the past few days as he has also been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the side. 208* (out of 392/4) is a near perfect, if not the perfect way of putting in a performance to level the series.
Dhawan was off to a flyer and helped Rohit in settling down-they understand each other’s game well. Shreyas looked promising and combined well with the skipper during his knock of 88.
Rohit’s second hundred came in less than half a dozen overs and the highlight must be the manner in which he hit those gigantic sixes-boundaries are reasonably long at the PCA Stadium. The sound of the ball hitting the bat was something else and he did not seem interested in scoring options like1,2,3 and 4-it was only 6.
It is an inexplicable feeling for parents to see their children achieving great things. Speaking to ANI, Rohit”s mother Purnima Sharma said, “We are extremely happy and proud that he had hit a double ton.”
“It is his marriage anniversary today (13th Dec), so our happiness has doubled”. “We were so surprised that first, he had hit a hundred, then he reached the 150 score and then so quickly he had reached the 200 run mark by slamming fours and sixes”.
“I am very proud as a mother that my son is the captain of the Indian team and is playing good innings for the team,” she added.
His wife Ritika Sajdeh was seen emotional and she would consider Rohit’s epic knock as a gift for their wedding anniversary. Mohali win sets up the series nicely for fans and both the teams move to Visakhapatnam for the decider to be played this Sunday.
