In a distressing event near Johannesburg’s Sandton Sun Hotel, West Indian cricketer Fabian Allen experienced a forcible theft of his mobile and personal bag. Allen, currently playing for the Paarl Royals in South Africa’s SA20 League, fell victim to this incident.
South Africa has emerged as a prominent cricket hub, with the SA20 League gaining popularity, largely attributed to the participation of renowned T20 cricket stars in the competition.
Fabian Allen, the all-rounder, is among numerous international cricketers who have journeyed to South Africa to participate in this tournament.
However, the all-rounder faced a distressing incident in Johannesburg, where his mobile phone and bag were forcibly taken at gunpoint. A Cricket West Indies (CWI) official assured Cricbuzz that Allen was unharmed by the assailants.
“Our head coach Andre Coley, also hailing from Jamaica, reached out to Fabian. Contact was successfully established through Obed McCoy (another West Indies international). He is fine. CSA (Cricket South Africa) and his team, Paarl Royals, could share more details if there are any,” a top CWI official said.
