Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has revealed his best XI from the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. He expressed that the players are selected on the basis of their performance this season and not on reputation.
Sachin Tendulkar’s XI has some surprise inclusions, starting with the opener, Shikhar Dhawan. The former cricketer reasoned that Shikhar can play at a brisk pace. He chose the obvious Jos Buttler as Dhawan’s opening partner. Buttler was the leading run-scorer in the tournament.
In a video uploaded on Tendulkar’s Youtube channel, the legendary batter said, “I would want a left-hand, right-hand combination and hence I am going to play Shikhar Dhawan. He accelerates beautifully and keeps rotating the strike.”
One need not discuss who Dhawan’s opening partner would be. Jos Buttler – what a season he has had, just fabulous. When Buttler gets going, no one can match him,” he added.
Sachin Tendulkar picked Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul and Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya at numbers three and four. Praising Hardik Pandya’s captaincy in the Indian Premier League 2022 season, Sachin said:
“Hardik was the standout captain this season. He was clear in his mind and proactive.”
It was a treat to watch David Miller this season – Sachin Tendulkar
David Miller took the number five position on Sachin Tendulkar’s best XI of the Indian Premier League 2022 season. Miller performed consistently and played crucial knocks, expressed the former cricketer.
“What I observed this season was, that he was able to hit all sides of the ground. It was not slogging but proper cricketing shots. It was a treat to watch.”
Tendulkar also named Liam Livingstone and Dinesh Karthik in the XI. Both the players performed well for their respective franchises this season. Liam Livingstone had a strike rate of 182.08, while Dinesh Karthik played the finisher’s role perfectly.
The purple cap winner Yuzvendra Chahal and Gujarat Titans spinner Rashid Khan were the obvious inclusion inclusions in Sachin Tendulkar’s squad. Surprisingly, he picked Jasprit Bumrah alongside Mohammed Shami in the pace bowling department. Bumrah could not live up to the expectations this season, as he managed just 15 wickets.
“I would have Rashid as he is a dangerous batter and, with the ball, he gets the breakthroughs in the middle overs. His success rate is very high. Chahal was the highest wicket-taker. He always thinks about outsmarting batters. Chahal and Rashid can bowl in tandem. If a left-hander comes in, I have the option of bowling Livingstone’s off-spin,” said Sachin Tendulkar.
