In a press conference arranged by James Sutherland, the CEO of Cricket Australia revealed the aftermath of the ball-tampering saga at Capetown.
On day 3 of the third test AT Newlands, Cameron Bancroft was seen using a sandpaper to make the ball reverse swing in an ample amount of time. It is to be noted that Fannie de Villiers played a vital role in this saga by making the cameraman focus on that “sharp” object used by Bancroft.
Smith later confessed that the leadership group knew about it earlier and this shocked the entire cricketing world.
As of now, all the three players David Warner, Bancroft and Smith will return Australia tomorrow as they are suspended form the fourth test at Johannesburg. Glenn Maxwell, Joe Burns, and Matt Renshaw have been named as the replacements for them.
Meanwhile, Sutherland ruled out the reports regarding Darren Lehman”s resignation as a coach and he will continue coaching the team.
He also mentioned that CA”s code of conduct has been breached by the three players and the quantum of the punishment will be sanctioned only after 24 hours.
