Sarfaraz Ahmed’s Cheeky Dig At Babar Azam: ‘Let Them Chant Babar, We’ll Handle the Rest

During the ongoing Champions One-Day Cup, Sarfaraz Ahmed humorously trolled Babar Azam on Thursday (September 19), during a match between Stallions and Dolphins. The tournament, featuring five teams and several top Pakistani cricketers, began on September 12 and will conclude on September 29.

The light-hearted incident occurred when Babar Azam was walking out to bat amid fans chanting his name. As the stadium in Faisalabad echoed with chants of “Babar, Babar,” Sarfaraz, known for his playful nature, decided to motivate his team with a witty remark. The former Pakistan wicketkeeper jokingly suggested that Babar could bat for all 40 overs, while his teammates could focus on dismissing the other players.

Let them keep chanting Babar, Babar. We will make Babar play for 40 overs; the rest of the team will get out,” Sarfaraz said, sparking laughter among fans and players alike. The moment was captured on video and quickly went viral on social media, with many fans appreciating Sarfaraz’s sense of humour. Some even joked that Sarfaraz knew a long stint at the crease by Babar would ultimately work in his team’s favour.

Babar Azam’s Steady Innings as Stallions Build on a Strong Foundation

At the time of the report, the Stallions were at 189/4 in the 41st over. Babar Azam was playing steadily on 51 runs from 66 balls, while his batting partner Hussain Talat was on 13. With Babar well set, the Stallions were hoping he could capitalize on his good start to guide them to a strong total.

Earlier in the match, the Stallions’ openers Shan Masood and Yasir Khan had provided a solid foundation with a partnership of 76 runs for the first wicket. Masood scored 34, while Yasir contributed 46. Tayyab Tahir added 33 runs before falling, and captain Mohammad Haris managed just 6. After a win and a loss in their first two matches, the Stallions were aiming to secure their second victory of the tournament.
