Two days after scoring his first century for Team India against New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Sarfaraz Khan had even more to celebrate as he became a father with the birth of his first child.
The 26-year-old welcomed a baby boy and shared photos on his social media on Monday evening (October 21). Sarfaraz’s father also posted on Instagram to celebrate becoming a grandfather, sharing a picture with the newborn and his older son. New dad Sarfaraz will also celebrate his 27th birthday tomorrow (October 22).
For those who don’t know, Sarfaraz and his wife Romana Zahoor got married on August 7 last year. Zahoor was there with Naushad when Sarfaraz received his India cap in Rajkot earlier this year.

Attention will soon shift back to cricket for Sarfaraz, as India is set to face New Zealand in the second Test in Pune starting Thursday (October 24). Despite his impressive 150 in the first Test, his place in the team is uncertain with Shubman Gill expected to return from injury. Sarfaraz played in Bengaluru only due to Gill’s absence.
While Gill’s inclusion is likely, Sarfaraz will be competing for a spot with KL Rahul, who is also under pressure after a poor performance in Bengaluru, where he was out for a duck in the first innings and managed just 12 runs in the second.
Regarding Sarfaraz, he made his Test debut for India against England earlier this year after a lengthy wait, despite having a remarkable domestic record. In his debut match, he scored over 50 runs in both innings. To date, Sarfaraz has played 4 Tests, accumulating 350 runs at an average of 58.33, including one century and three half-centuries.
