India has done very well to put them in a winning position on the 3rd day of the 3rd test match between India and South Africa at Johannesburg. Virat Kohli, Rahane, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami scored valuable runs to score 247 runs. In reply, South Africa ended the first 3rd day on 17 for 1.
Starting the 3rd day on 49 for 1, team India lost 2 early wickets of KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara. Captain Kohli and Vijay struggled against the South African bowlers. The pitch had uneven bounce. Both batsmen played with good intent. Before the lunch break, Murali Vijay was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada for 25 runs. At the end of the first session, India were 100 for 4.
After the lunch break, Ajiyanka Rahane and Virat Kohli played with positive intent putting pressure on the South African bowlers. Both of them added 34 runs for the 5th wicket. Virat Kohli was dismissed for 41 runs. Hardik Pandya too was dismissed cheaply. Both of them went into the tea break at 199 for 6.
In the third session, Rahane was dismissed for 48 runs. Both Rahane and Bhuvneshwar Kumar added 55 runs for the 7th wicket. Mohammad Shami played with positive intent playing putting 35 runs for the 8th wicket. India was bowled out for 247. Kagiso Rabada, Morne Morkel, and Vernon Philander picked 3 wickets each.
Chasing the target of 241 runs to win, South Africa lost an early wicket of Markram. The batsmen struggled with uneven bounce. The batsmen were hit by bowlers and ended the 3rd day on 17 for 1.
