Schedule for the 9^th edition of the Indian Premier League announced: The 9^th edition of the Indian Premier League will kick-off in Mumbai on the 9^th of April with Rising Pune Supergiants and Mumbai Indians to lock horn in the opener. This year the most popular cricket league in the world, IPL will be sponsored by the Chinese mobile brand, Vivo and hence is named as Vivo IPL 9.

The schedule has been released and according to it the tournament will run for 51 days. The final is scheduled on 29^th May in Mumbai. The tournament opener will just be six days after the World T20.

This time two new teams have replaced the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals-Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions. The MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina led team have been assigned home grounds at Pune and Rajkot respectively.

The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium at Raipur will play host to two home games of Delhi Daredevils, while the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium at Nagpur will host three home games of Kings XI Punjab.

IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla said: “All the top players from around the world will be seen in action this year. This season the IPL will be played at 10 venues – Mohali, Delhi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Rajkot and Raipur. I am excited to join the fans to see a lot of exciting cricket over the next three months”

The first qualifier will be played at Bengaluru on 24th May, while the eliminator and the second qualifier will be played in Pune on 25th May and 27th May respectively.
