Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan applauded Kolkata Knight Riders cricketers for their valiant effort against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Eoin Morgan & Co went down fighting falling short by 18 runs in pursuit of 221 runs set by the Yellow army in their 20 overs.
Knight Riders put up a valiant effort with the bat before going down against Chennai Super Kings. Chasing 221 runs, the Knight Riders were at 31 for five at one stage losing the top-order including skipper Eoin Morgan. But the big Jamaican Andre Russell launched a carnage at the Wankhede Stadium hitting a 21-ball half-century before Dinesh Karthik and Pat Cummins joined the party.
The Aussie almost took Kolkata over the line but lacked partners at the other end. He remained unbeaten on 66 runs off just 34 deliveries padded up with six towering hits and four boundaries. Despite a heroic attempt, Kolkata fell short by 18 runs to now sit at the sixth spot with one victory from four matches.

Skipper Eoin Morgan, who got out to Deepak Chahar, appreciated his team as well for the fightback. He also accepted that he didn’t expect the Knights to get close to the target after the horrendous show in the powerplay.
“What a hell of a game of cricket. Certainly, from the position we were in after our powerplay, we probably didn’t think we’d get as close as we did. But Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik really did put a partnership together, once you do that taking advantage of the conditions here, it’s very difficult to stop,“ Morgan said.
