The Pakistani team for the first Test match against England is largely the same as the one they used in the just finished two-match Test series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team, with a few exceptions. The previous series’ standout player, Khurram Shahzad, will miss this one because of an injury.
Left-arm spinner Noman Ali, who has claimed 47 wickets in 15 Test matches, has been added to the Pakistan National Cricket Team in his place. Additionally, after just one series, young players Mohammad Ali and Kamran Ghulam, who were in the Bangladesh Test team, were cut from the team.
“Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Ali, who were part of the squad for the Bangladesh Tests, remain firmly in the selectors’ plans. However, due to the selection policy’s emphasis on consistency and continuity, and the belief that 15 players are sufficient for a test,” PCB said.
“They have been advised and encouraged to continue representing their teams in the Champions One-Day Cup and the President’s Cup, starting on 3 October, to ensure they stay match-ready through competitive cricket,” PCB added.
