West Indies batter Sherfane Rutherford powered the Montreal Tigers to the Global T20 Canada 2023 title win on Sunday, August 6 at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario. They defeated the Surrey Jaguars in the final by five wickets to lift the trophy in the third edition of the tournament. Sherfane Rutherford was presented with a unique award as he won the Player of the Series.
Rutherford performed well throughout the tournament for the Montreal Tigers. He scored 220 runs in nine matches at an average of 44 and a strike rate of 130.18, including a fifty. He finished the tournament as the second-leading run-scorer. In the final, he top-scored with an unbeaten 38-run knock to win the Global T20 Canada 2023.
Following the win, Sherfane Rutherford was awarded the Player of the Match award. He also won the Player of the Series award. Interestingly, the West Indies cricketer was rewarded with a half-acre land in the United States of America (USA) for winning the Player of the Series award in the tournament.

Montreal Tigers win maiden Global T20 Canada title
The Montreal Tigers won their maiden Global T20 Canada title on the back of great performances by their players. Apart from Sherfane Rutherford, Aayan Khan and Chris Lynn, Andre Russell also played a huge role in the final. Aayan Khan picked up two wickets in the first innings, as the Surrey Jaguars scored 135 in 20 overs.
Chris Lynn gave the Tigers a good start, after an early dismissal. He scored 31 runs off 35 deliveries. In the end, Andre Russell showcased his power-hitting ability. He smashed a boundary and two sixes to score 20 runs off just six deliveries and seal the game. Skipper Chris Lynn led the team from the front this season. He finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer with 234 runs at an average of 39, with two fifties.
