For the forthcoming T20I clashes against Zimbabwe, Shivam Dube has been called up to the Indian squad instead of the injured Nitish Reddy. Dube is a capable all-around player who can replace Reddy because he has played well in international cricket.
Reddy is devastated by this development, as he was hoping to have a major part in the show. Dube will want to take full advantage of this chance, giving the Indian squad a potent bowling and batting option.
The all-rounder was called up for the very first time for the Men in Blue, but the injury held him out of five games. The selection of SunRisers Hyderabad’s Nitish Kumar Reddy to represent India is a result of his exceptional 2024 IPL season.
Doctors at BCCI will closely monitor him upon his arrival, as he is a young man of only 21 years old and originally from Visakhapatnam.
The decision to replace him was taken a few days after the central selection committee, headed by Ajit Agarkar, selected a batch of 15 players. The board disclosed nothing about the nature of the injury.
“The Men’s Selection Committee named Shivam Dube as a replacement for the injured Nitish Reddy in India’s squad for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring Nitish Reddy’s progress,” the BCCI said in a statement.
India’s updated squad for the Zimbabwe tour after Shivam Dube replaces injured Nitish Reddy:
Shubman Gill (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Riyan Parag, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Tushar Deshpande, and Shivam Dube.
