Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik has announced that he will be retiring from the ODI”s after the 2019 World Cup at England.
Malik who was kept aside for a longer period of time between 2011-15 was called after the repeated failures of several youngsters in the team. He made sure to create an impact with the bat and ball adding value to the team. However, his test figures aren”t as convincing as his ODI ones.
The 2019 World Cup is expected to be the final one for many legends of the game. While Chris Gayle already announced the same, there are several others who are trying to make it count for one last time.
It is to be noted that Malik already hinted on this statement in the month of May. However, he said that he might represent the T20I”s if his body permits.
A solid all-rounder Malik has been an indispensable asset to the squad during the mid-2000″s. He also led the squad for some time with the World T20 2007 being the notable one. He attained career-best ODIÂ ranks of 11 and 13 in batting and bowling till now.
Pakistan will now play Australia and Zimbabwe in a T20 triseries from July 1.
