In reply, Punjab Kings faced early setbacks during the Powerplay. Fast bowler Mohammed Shami dismissed opener Priyansh Arya for a duck on the very first delivery of the innings and subsequently removed Cooper Connolly for 18, leaving Punjab at 22 for 2.
However, the chase was completely revitalized by a dominant 140-run partnership between captain Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh. Prabhsimran played aggressively to score 69 runs off 39 deliveries before being trapped leg-before-wicket by Arjun Tendulkar, who claimed his maiden wicket of the 2026 season.
Shreyas Iyer remained anchored until the end, executing a flawless innings to score 101 not out off just 51 balls, featuring 11 boundaries and 5 sixes. Iyer concluded the match in style, hitting a six to simultaneously bring up the winning runs and his maiden IPL century. Punjab Kings reached 200 for 3 in exactly 18 overs, completing the chase with 12 balls to spare.
