As of now, the young man from India who is among the best batsmen in opening for his country, Shubman Gill, has been allowed to rest ahead of their three-match Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh that will take place in October. This makes him skip T20 World Cup 2024’s squad announced by India just recently.

The first part of the October series will be a two-match Test series against Bangladesh starting on September 19 at Chennai. Gwalior will hold the first T20I match on October 6, followed by Delhi on October 9 and Hyderabad on October 12.

This move allows Gill time off and focus on other formats while opening opportunities for others during the T20I series. The absence of Gill forces India to look for other people who can start in T20I matches with Bangladesh.

Shubman Gill will be rested for the Bangladesh T20I series:

The PTI news agency reported on Sunday 15th September that Gill and some other important players will be given a break from this format because of the upcoming busy season including three home Test series against New Zealand and five away Test series against Australia.

“Yes, Shubman will be rested for the Bangladesh T20I series. If you look at the fixture, the three T20Is will be played on October 7 (Gwalior), 10 (Delhi), and 13 (Hyderabad). Now the first Test vs New Zealand starts October 16.”

“So with a turnaround of three days, it is important to give Gill a break,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by PTI.

Abhishek Sharma, who made a century in his second Twenty20 International, may or may not make his way back into the team for the home series against Najmul Hossain Shanto’s team. It is probable that players such as Jasprit Bumrah would also miss the T20I series.

Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium will host the start of the Test series on September 19. September 27 at Green Park, Kanpur, is when the second Test is supposed to begin. Out of four innings, he has scored 157 runs, including a century, against Bangladesh.
