SL vs IND 2021: India’s Young Brigade Leaves For Sri Lanka

Team India is all set to play three One Day Internationals and as many T20 Internationals against Sri Lanka, beginning from July 13. Shikhar Dhawan will lead the 20-member squad, with Rahul Dravid as the Head coach in the limited-overs tour.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a Team photograph on their official Twitter handle just before the squad boarded the flight to Sri Lanka.

 

Indian Team has some very exciting new faces such as Chetan Sakariya, Devdutt Padikkal, and Nitish Rana. This young brigade assembled in Mumbai two weeks back and were under isolation before starting their training together.

In a video, recently posted by the BCCI, the Newbies of the Indian team, spoke about their emotions after getting out of quarantine and gearing up for the Sri Lanka series.

Audition for T20 World Cup India squad

India’s tour of Sri Lanka is India’s last limited-overs series before the Mega event, the ICC T20 World Cup. With spots up for grabs, the players will look to put up an impressive show on the tour. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar will play his first match after recovering from the injury.

In a virtual press conference, Shikhar Dhawan agreed that there will be serious competition for places in the squad. But the main focus will be to win the series.

“There are a lot of people in this squad who are pushing for places or looking to cement their places in the World Cup coming up, but I think the key goal of everyone in the squad and in the team…is to try and win the series,” the India captain said.
