SL vs IND: [WATCH]- Riyan Parag Dismisses Avishka Fernando To Secure His First ODI Wicket
Riyan Parag

In Sri Lanka’s ongoing series finale, Team India’s all-rounder Riyan Parag was able to knock down Avishka Fernando and eventually break his account in ODI cricket. Local boy Virat Kohli capped him before the rendezvous at R Premadasa Stadium on Wednesday, August 7, 2015.

After scoring a good 40 runs in the last contest, Avishka Fernando went one better than his earlier performance to make fifty and beyond in this pivotal match-up. Initially very careful behind the crease, he later hit out with ease and claimed control as he became more settled during the middle periods of play.

After hitting a six off Riyan Parag in the 36th over, he was just 96 runs shy of his fourth ODI century. However, the delivery reached him in a straight line after its release and then suddenly ended it all. When trying to play for a spin, the ball goes onto his pads directly.

However, no review request by Fernando knew well how clear his leg upright was until he left the field. It just happened that he got too close to get himself a ton (again).

In the subcontinent conditions, Team India included Riyan Parag to strengthen their batting as well as to have another spinning bowling option instead of a seamer. Parag also rolled his arm over in the recently concluded T20I series. His bowling during the death overs was impressive and he took three wickets in the opener of the series.

Riyan Parag’s dismissal of Charith Asalanka helped India regain momentum in the game

After achieving success, the bowler maintained his position on that side of the pitch. Charith Asalanka of Sri Lanka blasted him for a six with the first delivery of the next over, but he made a perfect comeback by bowling out LBW in the last ball of his over.

Nonetheless, just like it was three times red on the screen while the left-handed batter took a review and scored only 10 runs off 12 balls. Concerning Riyan Parag’s four overs he has bowled up to this point, he has given away 26 runs and taken two wickets.
